I continue to work on the clay family I began modelling from air-dry clay earlier in the academic year. From my initial experiments, I found that blending the red and grey clays resulted in a rather homogenous colour result, rather than the clear definition I was seeking. On the feedback of my tutor, I looked to make the next pieces, or family members, by jigsawing the red and grey clay together. This was more effective in keeping that distinction I wanted in order to make a definition between the two sides of a dual heritage. Further experimentation with fired clay is required in order to compare the materials of air-dry vs. fired towards making a final set of the family members at a larger scale for the degree show installation I am planning.
